Formerly the Miami County Bass Club, the East Kansas Bassmasters is a B.A.S.S. affiliated club based out of Paola, Kansas. EKB is a growing club with many local members, as well as members from as far away as the Wichita area. We have a unique tournament format that provides for a competitive season while maintaining a fun and friendly atmosphere. We are also focused on getting youths involved in fishing and promoting the conservation of our fisheries.
Our primary tournament format allows members to fish with a partner of their choice, while still competing individually against other anglers and co-anglers. At a given tournament, each angler and co-angler can weigh in three fish a piece. Sharing of fish is not allowed; each angler must catch their own fish. The weight of the angler’s and co-angler’s limits is then combined for a team weight for that day’s tournament standings and money payout. However, the individual weights go towards the angler and co-angler of the year standings. This format makes EKB an attractive club for members who want to fish competitive club tournaments with their kids, spouses, or buddies. There are times during the year when we will also have draw tournaments, but the weigh-in format stays the same. Our tournaments also feature a youth division, with an award going to the youth who weighs in the heaviest sack of fish.
